CHARACTER AGE: 26
SPECIES: Human
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Sara is the middle child of five, all, except her, witches and doing well for themselves. Her parents are both well-to-do and have always had high expectations for their children. And for awhile, Sara seemed to be living up to them. But once she hit her early teens it became clear that she had zero magical ability and her expectations of herself took a harsh blow. Desperate to not let her parents know that she was, in her own mind, the family failure, she taught herself human 'magic' from books and the internet. Sleight of hand, mentalism, close-up magic, even escapism... She drank it all in and made it her own. Even basic potion making, the kind that you didn't really need magic for, was added to her repertoire. And, so far, its worked well to pass her off as a low level witch.
Then came college. She was bright, eager to learn, and quick to learn. She easily got into medical school. But the stress of college was too much for her. She would start to get ill whenever tests came around and when she DID attend a test, her mind would go horribly blank. All the learning was there, but she couldn't access it to save her own life when it came to such high pressure situations. So her marks dropped. Horrified that her parents would find out, she dropped out and hide all her marks from them, moving back home and making herself over as a spoiled princess. Sara pretended that she'd dropped out because it was too much work and her parents, confused but wanting whatever made their child happiest, believed her.
It soon became very clear that living at home made it very difficult to keep her parents from finding out about her lack of magic, however. Close quarters where everyone is constantly using small magics to do little things are not the place to hide if you can't also do those magics. So, faking an urge to get out of the suburbia they'd settled in, she informed her parents she was moving to Siren Cove. They had contacts in the witch community there so she knew there wouldn't be any strenuous objections to her departure. And she was right. Within two weeks of her announcement, she'd packed up her things, purchased herself a small penthouse, and quietly settled herself into life in the hectic little town.
PERSONALITY: Sara is a liar in almost everything she does. She lies about her magic. Her outgoing and brash demeanor is a lie. Her spoiled princess act is a lie. So it's a good thing she's a skilled liar.
In reality, Sara's quite shy. Meeting new people is difficult for her, so she overcompensates by being loud and obnoxious when she meets someone. And she's far from a spoiled princess. Her parents made her work for her things growing up and, inside, she still firmly believes in the importance of hard work. But that doesn't mesh with the lies she's come up with for herself.
That being said, she's also a very fun loving person. She enjoys a good joke and loves to laugh. She prides herself on being rather quick witted and likes to think of herself as a blast at parties.
She's also an eager, and quick, learner. She soaks up new information like a sponge and can readily recall it, as long as she isn't pressured into it.
OPINION OF THE RIVALRY: Doesn't know about it. Doesn't care about it. She's a bit bitter towards witches in general though.
LIFESTYLE: Sara's parents are a well off doctor and lawyer so she's never wanted for money. She grew up knowing she had to work for what she wanted, but money was never a stressor in their house. She's currently lacking in a job, but her parents had a trust fund set up for her when she was young so she's fine living off of that for now. Eventually, she will tire of being lazy all day though, and look for a job to satisfy her need to work.
She's currently residing in a small penthouse in the nicer side of town and is well outfitted with nice clothes, though her closets are getting overly full with her predilection for shopping.
POWERS &ABILITIES: Not actually a real witch, Sara is powerless. However, she's gone out of her way to teach herself stage magic of all kinds. She's very skilled in close-up magic, mentalism, escapism, pick-pocketing, illusions, and 'telekinesis'. While away at college, she sought out well known magicians, hiring on as their assistants so she could learn the tricks of the trade from the very best.
She also has some very basic potion making skills. Nothing that requires actual magic, however.
